TEMISKAMING SHORES, ONT. — The Ontario government and Jarlette Health Services have announced the grand opening of Temiskaming Lodge, a 128-bed long-term-care home in Temiskaming Shores, in northern Ontario.
Temiskaming Lodge began welcoming residents late last year and features 46 new and 82 upgraded beds, stated a release.
The home consists of four resident home areas, intended to create more intimate living spaces, with dining and activity areas, lounges and bedrooms.
The main floor features a community hub of senior services and includes a general store, salon, multipurpose room and cafe. Temiskaming Lodge serves culturally diverse seniors including Francophone and Indigenous residents, who have access to translators, bilingual staff members and partnerships with local cultural centres.
The government has budgeted $155.5 million this year to accelerate the construction of new or redeveloped long-term-care homes.
