‘I experienced happiness very quickly in recovery and I didn’t look back’
COURTESY JULIAN TOY — Substance abuse professional Julian Toy provides fit for duty and drug and alcohol training for ICI constructors, HR and EH&S professionals. As an addict living in recovery for over 16 years, Toy shares his story and experiences in an effort to help companies identify, prepare and intervene with employees who have an addiction.

Julian Toy of Addiction Consultants in Recovery is a substance abuse professional trained in addictions and mental health. As an alcoholic/addict in recovery since 2000, Toy believes the best training comes from someone who has been there.

In the first of this two-part Cracks in the Foundation video interview with Daily Commercial News staff writer Angela Gismondi, Toy, who was a certified welder and machine operator at a lumber yard, describes how he got addicted to drugs and alcohol at a young age and how that impacted his personal and professional life.

He also talks about how his fear of death motivated him to go into treatment. He now provides fit for duty and drug and alcohol training for ICI constructors, HR and EH&S professionals.
