MISSISSAUGA, ONT. — The provincial government is providing up to $2.5 million for the construction of Hospice Mississauga’s new 12-bed hospice centre, the city’s first hospice.
When complete, the new hospice will provide end-of-life care to people and families living in Mississauga and Brampton. The hospice will support those of all ages living with a terminal illness and their caregivers with services including palliative care and grief and bereavement programs, a release reads.
The new centre will include:
- Suites in a home-like setting.
- Services such as hospice counselling, social connections, specialized children’s programs and a community palliative care clinic.
- Round-the-clock staffing by nurses, physicians and personal support workers.
- More space for hospice programs.
The 12 new hospice beds at Hospice Mississauga are part of the 84 new adult beds that were included in the 2024 budget.
