This episode of The Construction Record Podcast is both special and bittersweet, as Daily Commercial News and Journal of Commerce managing editor Vince Versace, daily editor Lindsey Cole and digital media editor Warren Frey say farewell to staff writer Russell Hixson, who is leaving ÌìÃÀÓ°Ôº after eight years with the company breaking stories and reporting on Western Canada’s construction industry for a new and exciting role.
Over the course of the podcast we talk to Russell about what he’s learned over the better part of a decade about not only the construction industry but how he and the Journal of Commerce and Daily Commercial News have adapted to a shifting media landscape, a pandemic, and more. Â
We also look back at some of the significant stories Russell worked on during his tenure, including the Cracks in the Foundation series and his reporting on the death of Samuel Fitzpatrick, who was struck and killed by a boulder in 2009 at a B.C. hydroelectric project.
