Daily Commercial News Image Daily Commercial News

On this episode of the Construction Record Podcast, digital media editor Warren Frey has more coverage from the recent Buildings Show featuring a speaker from the Architectural Roundtable panel and from a panel on how the City of Toronto rapidly rolled out modular housing for those experiencing homelessness at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The first interview is with Veronica Madonna, the principal architect at Studio VMA. She’s also an assistant professor at the RAIC Centre for Architecture at Athabasca University and she participated in the Architectural Roundtable at the Building Show, which was titled “Designing for a Lower Carbon City and Society.”

Our other interview is with Kevin Hutchison, an associate with Montgomery Sisam Architects, and we talk about the technical challenges of rapidly deploying wood-based permanent modular units under a very tight time frame as the city shut down during the early stages of the pandemic.

you can listen to The Construction Record on the Daily Commercial News and Journal of Commerce websites as well as on ,Ի podcast section. Our previous episode features interviews with speakers at the Buildings Show CEO Breakfast put on by the Toronto Construction Association and ӰԺ and is available here. Thanks for listening.
