This week Daily Commercial News and Journal of Commerce national managing editor Vince Versace interviews John Reid of Faber Connect, a Vancouver-based wo-sided marketplace connecting construction workers with firms looking for skilled labour. In Reid’s words, it’s his mission to empower workers and grow the workforce, especially given an ongoing skilled trades shortage.
The company is working in Canada and the United States and aims to streamline the hiring process by using technology to make it easier for employers to hire from a vetted pool of workers.
Reid says he wants to put “power back in the worker’s hands” and pointed to a rating and review feature on the platform where both workers and employers can maintain maximum transparency.
The interview also covers issues like the COVID-19 pandemic’s effect on labour demand, union vs. non-union hiring and much more, so let’s go straight to the interview. Thanks for listening!
