On this episode of The Construction Record Podcast, digital media editor Warren Frey speaks with BIM Academy senior consultant Melanie Robinson about the work the consultancy is doing to create digital modeling for the $1.72 billion New Surrey Hospital and Care Centre.
Robinson explained the project is not only creating a working model of the hospital and all of its assets in digital form, it will also be a dynamic digital twin which changes along with the physical structure.
She added some specialized equipment such as MRI machines has to be “built” in digital form first in order to test whether it will be possible to get it into the building. The project will also act as a test-bed for an eventual digital transformation of the Fraser Health Authority.
