The Construction Record Podcast: Episode 86 – Women in Construction, opioids and COVID-19, and an interview with Jesse Unke

Journal Of Commerce Image Journal Of Commerce

This week on the Construction Record podcast, Daily Commercial News and Journal of Commerce national managing editor Vince Versace is joined by both digital media editor Warren Frey and staff writer Russell Hixson to cover a variety of topics, including Vince’s recent work on our Women in Construction Feature which takes a look at some of the progress being made and challenges still present to more women working in the construction industry.

Warren also takes a look at a recent story about the ongoing opioid crisis, which has hit the construction industry harder than most sectors of society and has ben exacerbated by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Russell also has an interview with Jesse Unke, president of the British Columbia Construction Roundtable about some of the initiatives his organization has undertaken as the pandemic disrupts established workflows and forces a “new normal” on the industry.

Vince also has another edition of the “Awesome Eight,” where he looks at some of the best-industry related Instagram posts of the week and highlights them for our audience.

You can read more about the BCCR and their post COVID-19 strategy here.
