Startup Arthroto launches in prefab construction sector

CALGARY, ALTA. — Calgary-based Arthroto has announced its launch into the prefabrication construction sector, focusing on converting underutilized office spaces into residential and mixed-use housing.

The company will work in partnership with DIRTT, also from Calgary, in the sector. DIRTT specializes in customizable, adaptable and sustainable interior construction, stated a release.

The business model for the production of prefabricated interior structures will include use of building information management systems, smart home technology, smart HVAC systems and new AI design tools. Anticipated partners include building owners, asset managers, REITs, RELPs, pension funds and banks that have unused office space and are looking to conversion as a possible solution.

“The launch of Arthroto marks a groundbreaking evolution in the housing industry as we strive to repurpose underutilized office spaces into thriving residential and mixed-use communities,” said Doug Hayden, president and founder of Arthroto, in a statement. “By leveraging the principles that have existed for decades in prefabricated, prefinished, volumetric construction for office spaces, Arthroto applies massive gains in productivity.”
