TORONTO — A request for qualifications (RFQ) has been issued for a new patient care tower redevelopment project at North York General Hospital (NYGH).
Located in the Don Valley North neighbourhood of Toronto, the multi-phased project will increase capacity across NYGH’s highest acuity services, states a release from Infrastructure Ontario (IO).
The new tower will include 11 floors and two levels of underground parking. It will also connect to NYGH’s existing building on six levels.
Up to 317 private patient bedrooms will be included, expanding NYGH’s acute care capacity by approximately 100 net-new beds, in addition to expanded spaces for other acute care programs and services.
Respondents to the RFQ will be evaluated against the criteria listed, including team composition, experience in collaborative project delivery, health and safety and past project examples.
Shortlisted teams will then be invited to respond to a request for proposals, which is expected to be released in summer 2025.
Interested companies must register on to download the RFQ.
The redevelopment project is being delivered through IO’s Alliance model, which is used for delivering major capital assets, where a public sector agency (the “owner”) works collaboratively with private sector parties to share the risks and responsibilities in delivering a project.
