Vancouver says ‘detour ahead’ for West 41st Avenue near Dunbar fire site

Vancouver says ‘detour ahead’ for West 41st Avenue near Dunbar fire site

The City of Vancouver is advising vehicles that would normally take West 41st Avenue to detour to either West 49th Avenue or Southwest Marine Drive “for the time being.”

West 41st Avenue is a popular route for vehicles going to and from the many active construction sites on the Point Grey campus of the University of British Columbia.

As previously reported in the Journal of Commerce, West 41st Avenue is closed between Collingwood and Blenheim (near Dunbar Street) because a construction crane collapsed and fell across the much-used street when a six-storey rental housing project that was under construction caught fire.

The toppled crane could remain lying across West 41st Avenue for up to two more weeks.
