TORONTO — Substantial completion has been reached on the in Ajax, Ont., a significant milestone in the Grandview Children’s Centre redevelopment project.
The announcement was made recently by Infrastructure Ontario and Grandview Kids, in partnership with the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services.
Substantial completion is the date when the facility is ready for use in accordance with the contractual requirements and marks the end of all major construction, indicates a release.
Over the next few months, Grandview Kids will begin a transition period, which includes transitioning operations from other sites to this location. Doors are expected to officially open later this fall.Â
The facility consolidates its existing Oshawa headquarters and multiple satellite locations into the new purpose-built facility, located on 5.06 acres of land, which was donated by the Town of Ajax.
The new facility will enable Grandview Kids to expand and enhance existing services and introduce new ones.
The new headquarters will include centre-wide therapy services, such as occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech-language pathology, therapeutic recreation, audiology, infant hearing, blind low vision and social work. It will also offer autism services, a preschool outreach program, school-based rehabilitation services, developmental pediatrics, including specialized medical clinics and family/caregiver resources and support. The building will be home to the Grandview School, as well as a branch of the Ajax Public Library branch.
